Legion Forge Review

Forge carries 10 mg of yohimbine and 300 mg of synephrine. Both do something. Both have real side effects, and this page covers who should skip it.

The verdict

Forge is built around yohimbine and synephrine, and both have evidence for mobilising fat during fasted exercise. This is also the one product on this site where the safety section matters more than the efficacy section. At 10 mg of yohimbine it is a real dose with real contraindications, and a meaningful number of people should not take it at all.

Read this part before the rest

Yohimbine raises heart rate and blood pressure and can cause anxiety, jitteriness and nausea, and the response between individuals varies more than for almost any common supplement ingredient. It interacts with MAO inhibitors and with several antidepressants. If you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, an anxiety disorder, or take medication for any of those, this product is not for you and no amount of fat mobilisation changes that. It is also banned or restricted for sale in several countries.

What it actually does, when it works

Yohimbine blocks alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, which are concentrated in the fat that is hardest to shift and which normally act as a brake on fat release. Blocking them during fasted exercise raises the amount of fat mobilised. The catch is in the word fasted: insulin blunts the effect, so the studies that show something use it before training on an empty stomach. Taken after a meal it does much less.

Mobilised is not the same as burned

This is the distinction the whole fat-burner category depends on you missing. Getting fat out of the cell and into the bloodstream is not the same as oxidising it, and if you are not in a calorie deficit the fatty acids are simply re-esterified and put back. Forge changes where fat comes from during a session. It does not change whether you lose any, which is decided entirely by the deficit.

Fasted training, honestly

The evidence that training fasted produces better body composition than training fed is weak and mostly neutral once total calories and protein are matched. The real argument for fasted training is that some people prefer it and adhere to it. If that is you, this is the product built for that window. If you train fed, most of what you are paying for is inert.

Who it is for

Buy it if
  • You train fasted and want the window to count
  • You are already in a calorie deficit
  • You tolerate stimulants well and have no cardiovascular concerns
Skip it if
  • You have high blood pressure or any heart condition
  • You take an MAOI or an antidepressant
  • You are prone to anxiety, or you train fed
  • You are not in a deficit — this changes nothing on its own

Questions

Is yohimbine safe?
For healthy adults at studied doses, generally. But it has a narrower margin than most supplement ingredients, individual response varies widely, and the contraindications above are real rather than boilerplate. If you are unsure, this is a question for a doctor rather than for a review page.
Can I take it with coffee?
You can, and the stimulant effects stack. If 10 mg of yohimbine alone makes you jittery, adding caffeine will not improve that. Start without.
Will it work if I eat first?
Much less. Insulin suppresses the pathway yohimbine acts on, which is the whole reason it is sold for fasted training. Taken after breakfast you are largely paying for nothing.
